About this tool

The Story Sequencer helps students retell a story in order. Type the main events and students drag the mixed-up cards into First, Next, Then and Last, then check their order.

Best for: Kindergarten to Year 3

How to use it

1. Open ⚙️ Settings and type the story events in the correct order, one per line.
2. Choose the box headings (First/Next/Then/Last, Beginning/Middle/End, or numbers).
3. Students drag each card into a box, then press ✅ Check.
4. Click 🖨️ Print for a cut-and-paste worksheet, a draw-and-write retell, or an answer key.

Teaching tips

• Use it after reading a quality text to practise retelling.
• Use the 🔊 button on each card so early readers can hear the events.
• Try procedures too, like how to plant a seed or make a sandwich.
• Use 🔗 Copy link to share the same story with another class.
